Teens
Being a teenager is awesome. And rough. Much like other developmental stages of our life, the teenage years hold unique challenges. It can be difficult for teenagers to connect with adults trying to provide advice and guidance. Here at Healthy Self. Healthy Life., I take a down-to-earth, "real" approach to working with teens; it has proven time after time to be just what even the most resistant teens (and their caregivers) are looking for.
As a caregiver, it can be difficult to watch your teen struggle. You may feel lost or unable to help. Everyone has an opinion and has likely shared with you what you "should" or "shouldn't" do. Whether your teen has experienced a traumatic situation, struggles in social situations, has difficulty expressing emotions, or just seems to be rebelling, therapy can help.
My goal is to provide a safe place for your teen to connect with a safe and healthy adult (me, the therapist), then use that positive relationship to make healthy adjustments forward. I operate from a systems perspective, which means that your ongoing family health is also my priority. This means that you will be regularly consulted, updated, and potentially brought into the therapy process. The pace and logistics of this looks different in each situation, as each teen and family is unique.

Young Adults
Life, and the challenges that come with it, is unique when you're freshly on your own and establishing yourself in the world. You may feel stuck between your old adolescent self and this new person you are becoming, unsure where to turn for support. Adulting can be hard, but asking for help during your in-between time doesn't have to be.
There are so many possibilities open for you to transform your life, it can be overwhelming to know which direction to go. You may have lots of people in your life with opinions on what you should do, or you may feel really alone in navigating adulthood. It’s possible you thought you knew exactly what you wanted to do and be, but now it just doesn’t feel right, or you’ve found that path is presenting road-blocks.
Struggles I’m experienced working with:
Social anxiety or isolation
Dating & finding a long-term partner
Break-ups & relationship endings
Career dissatisfaction or overwhelm
Signs of anxiety or depression
Increasing coping skills
Suicidal thoughts
Relationship(s) with family members
Development of healthy personal identity/Self-esteem
My goal is to help you explore, discover, and feel more confident and capable on your life path. While “adulting” can definitely be hard, you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
